Redistribution duties

When you provide any part of this software to anyone, you must also pass on:

Patents and breach

  • The licensor likewise grants a patent license covering the software; if you make a written claim that the software infringes a patent, the patent license terminates immediately.
  • If you cure the breach completely within 32 days of the first written notice, the license continues; otherwise all licenses terminate immediately.
  • The software is provided "as is", without any warranty, and the licensor is not liable for any damages.

Why not MIT/Apache?

MIT, Apache-2.0, AGPL and other common open-source licenses all permit commercial use (AGPL only requires derivative works to be open-sourced). If the goal is "no commercial use without permission", the industry-standard approach is a source-available license such as PolyForm Noncommercial — the source stays public and usable by the community while the full commercial rights remain reserved to the copyright holder.
